The authors take an equivalence relation \(E\) on a set \(X\) and study the semigroup \(T_E(X)\) of all mappings on \(X\) that respect \(E\). They focus on the case where \(X\) is finite and \(E\) consists of \(m\) classes of \(n\) consecutive points, calling this semigroup \(OP_E(X)\). In general, \(OP_E(X)\) is not regular and the regular elements are characterized. Green's relations are determined, the descriptions of which involve certain orientation-preserving mappings defined in terms of \(E\) and \(X\).
