Consider the equation \(u_t = \Delta u + f(x,u, \nabla u)\), \(x \in \Omega\), \(t > 0\) with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition where \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^N\) is a bounded domain. It is shown that if \(N \geq 2\) then for some \(f\) this problem has a finite-dimensional invariant manifold \(W\) such that the reduced vector field on \(W\) is the same (or has the same jet at an equilibrium) as an arbitrary given vector field. In particular, one can have trajectories with \(\omega\)-limit sets of arbitrary dimension and also chaos.
