Any standard module of level \(k\in \mathbb{Z}_+\) of any affine Lie algebra is contained in the tensor product of \(k\) copies of level 1 standard modules. This conjecture has been well known for years and had been proved in many special cases during various explicit constructions of standard modules. In this paper the authors give the first published proof of it. They combine nicely some of the techniques developed by Xie with the concept of crystal bases introduced by Kashiwara.
