This paper continues the author's investigations of the structure of (von Neumann) regular, right self-injective rings, concentrating here on those of type III. First, he proves that the centers of these rings encompass all commutative regular self-injective rings. Second, he gives a complete characterization of the lattice of two-sided ideals for those regular, right self-injective rings of type III in which the ideal of countably decomposable elements is essential. The second result is based on the first together with the author's previous work, in which these lattices of ideals are described in terms of lattices of continuous functions from Boolean algebras of central idempotents to certain spaces of ordinals [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 67, 209-245 (1990; Zbl 0723.16001)].
