A CW complex has a fundamental crossed complex; this is a slightly non-abelian variant of the singular chain complex which takes account of the fundamental groupoid. The fundamental crossed complex functor is left adjoint to a classifying space functor, and the adjunction has a simplicial enrichment; it therefore gives information about sets of homotopy classes. In [Indag. Math., New Ser. 8, No. 2, 157-172 (1997; Zbl 0898.55009)] the authors gave an equivariant analogue valid over a large class of Hausdorff topological groups, for example totally disconnected groups; the fundamental crossed complex is replaced by a diagram of crossed complexes. They now extend their result to arbitrary Hausdorff topological groups. They need a theory of coherence for crossed complexes, which they obtain from Eilenberg-Zilber homotopies.
