An algebraic set in \(\mathbb R^3\) is a zero set of a polynomial function \(p : \mathbb R^3 \to \mathbb R\), and it is regular if the gradient of \(p\) is nowhere vanishing. There are two examples of algebraic regular surfaces that have nonzero constant mean curvature, namely, sphere and circular right cylinders. In this paper, the authors give an answer for the question whether there is another example of nonzero constant mean curvature except spheres and cylinders. They prove that if \(M\) is a regular algebraic surface in \(\mathbb R^3\) having nonzero constant mean curvature, then \(M\) is a sphere or a right circular cylinder.
