The Wiener sausage problem is concerned with the volume traced out by a finite sphere attached to a Brownian particle. In the paper, the authors present a field-theoretical approach and a single loop renormalised perturbation theory of the stochastic process related to the Wiener sausage. Many known classical results are recovered. It is shown that the field-theoretical approach is flexible with respect to boundary conditions and observables with the aim to characterise and resolve the technical challenges.
