A generalized complex structure on a manifold \(M\) is a complex structure on the vector bundle \(V=TM\oplus T^*M\) over \(M\) (i.e. an automorphism \(J\) of this bundle with \(J^2=-1\)), such that \(J\) is compatible with the standard split pseudo-Riemannian structure \(g\) on \(V\) (i.e. \(J^*g=g\)), and the \(+i\) eigenbundle of \(J\) is involutive with respect to the (Dorfman-)Courant bracket \([X+\xi,Y+\eta]=L_X(Y+\eta)-\iota_Yd\xi\). Any complex structure \(I:TM\to TM\) on \(M\), \(I^2=-1\), induces a generalized complex structure: \(J_I=\operatorname{diag}(-I,I^*)\) on \(V\). More generally, if \(\beta:T_{1,0}^*M\to T_{1,0}M\) is a holomorphic Poisson structure on a complex manifold \((M,I)\), then the following defines a generalized complex structure: \[ J_\beta=\begin{bmatrix} -I &\operatorname{Im}(\beta) \\ 0 & I^*\end{bmatrix}. \] The main theorem states that if \(J\) is a generalized complex structure on \(M\), and it equals the structure \(J_I\) at a point \(x\in M\), then there exists a local generalized diffeomorphism \(\Phi\) defined on a neighborhood \(U\subset M\) of \(x\) (i.e. a bundle isomorphism of \(V\) preserving the Courant bracket), \(\Phi(x)=x\), and a holomorphic Poisson structure \(\beta\), \(\beta(x)=0\), such that \(\Phi^*J=J_\beta\).
