The paper deals with the periodic solutions of delay differential equations with large delay. The authors investigate the Floquet exponents of a periodic orbit for the delay \(\tau=\tau_0+NT(\tau_0)\), which are the roots of the characteristic function \(\mu\to h(\mu,\exp(-(NT(\tau_0)+\tau_0)\mu))\) constructed in Section 3 of the paper. They also study the limit of \(h\) for \(N\to\infty\). The strongly unstable Floquet spectrum and the Floquet exponents given by an asymptotic continuous spectrum are analyzed. The main result is a criterion about asymptotic stability of periodic solutions based on the location of the asymptotic continuous and strongly unstable spectrum.
