This paper deals with the local well posedness and certain stability properties of the hyperbolic geometric flow, which is an hyperbolic analogue of the celebrated (parabolic) Ricci flow. In the main theorem, the authors solve the Cauchy problem locally in time on a compact manifold with smooth initial data. They also prove a stability result for the Euclidean metric in space dimension at least 5 and finally derive evolution equations on the full curvature tensor, the Ricci curvature and the scalar curvature.
