Let \(M\) be a generic CR submanifold in a complex manifold \(G\) and denote by \(T'M = T^{\mathbb C}M \cap T' G\) the holomorphic tangent bundle, which defines the CR structure of \(M\). If we fix an Hermitian metric on \(G\), the Levi form of \(M\) in the direction of a vector \(v \in N_xM = T_xM \cap \text{Re}(T'_xM \oplus \overline{T'_xM})^\perp \) is the Hermitian form on \(T'_xM\) defined by \({\mathcal L}^{v}(X) = \langle v, \text{Re}(i[\overline X, X])\rangle\). We recall that \(M\) is called regular \(q\)-pseudoconcave if for any point \(x \in M\) there exists a neighborhood \(\mathcal U\) and a family \(E(y, v)\subset T_y^c M\) of \(q\)-dimensional subspaces, smoothly depending on \(y\in \mathcal U\) and on \(v \in N_y M\), such that the restriction \(\left.{\mathcal L}^{v}\right| _{E(y, v)}\) is strictly negative. The author proves that, for any \(k \geq 17\), if \(M\) is a \({\mathcal C}^{2 k + 5}\)-embedded generic compact CR submanifold which is regular 3-pseudoconcave and with \(\dim H^1(M, T'G| _M) = 0\), any sufficiently small \({\mathcal C}^{2 k + 5}\) deformation of the (abstract) CR structure of \(M\) can be obtained by a small \({\mathcal C}^{k}\) deformation of the embedding of \(M\). The result is obtained proving the solvability of the linearized problem and then by applying the Nash-Moser implicit function theorem. The solvability result is obtained by means of a new global homotopy formula with ``tame'' \( {\mathcal C}^k\)-estimates for the \(\overline \partial_{M'}\) operator of any compact embedded submanifold \(M'\), which is sufficiently close to \(M\). The author shows also that the hypothesis of the theorem can be easily checked in several nice examples, like e.g. for non-degenerate real quadrics in \({\mathbb C}P^n\) or certain compact CR submanifolds of codimension 2 in \({\mathbb C}P^n \times {\mathbb C}P^n\).
