This is the second in a series of papers (see Zbl 1089.83006 above) on solutions to the Cauchy problem for the vacuum Einstein equations. The authors extend known existence results for asymptotically flat settings to initial data of lower differentiability by half a derivative. The Einstein equations are studied for wave coordinates. The authors combine paradifferential techniques with a geometric approach by exploiting the specific structure of the Einstein equations on null hypersurfaces. The present paper contains the geometric analysis of the eikonal equation and presents the proof for a result on the asymptotics of the Ricci tensor needed for the existence result for the Cauchy problem.
