The authors prove that for a generic choice of tame almost complex structures \(J\) on a symplectic manifold \((M^{2n},\omega)\), \(n\geq 3\) with first Chern class \(c_1(M,\omega )=0\) all \(J\)-holomorphic maps \(u:\Sigma \to M\), from any closed smooth Riemannian surface \(\Sigma \) into \(M\) which are somewhere injective, i.e. there is a point \(z\in \Sigma \) such that \(du(z)\not= 0\) and \(u^{-1}(u(z))=\{ z\}\), are embedded. The result is obtained by proving the transversality result for the 1-jet evaluation map \(\Upsilon :(J,(j,u),z)\to (\bar\partial _{(j,J)}u,(\partial _{(j,J)}u)(z))\) and then by dimension counting arguments.
