    Let \((X,c)\) be a network (i.e., \(X\) is a countable, connected graph with symmetric neighborhood relation and without loops and multiple edges and \(c\) is a positive conductance). The authors consider the translation operator \(P\) and the averaging operator \(A\) on \((X,c)\). They mainly prove the following fundamental relation between the \(\ell^2\)-spectrum spec(\(P\)) of \(P\) and the \(L^2\)-spectrum spec(\(A\)) of \(A\): \[ \text{spec}(A)= \biggl\{0\biggr\}\cup \biggl\{\frac{\sin\omega}{\omega}: \omega\in \mathbb{R}\setminus \{0\},\;\cos\omega\in \text{spec}(P)\biggr\}\cup \biggl\{1: 1 \in \text{spec}(P)\biggr\}. \]
