The aim of this article is to generalize the well-known coding of the geodesic flow on modular surfaces, by considering other similar surfaces (with one cusp and two marked prints). Precisely, the modular group is here replaced by another Fuchsian group: the so-called ``Hecke triangle group'' \(G\subset\text{PSL}_2(\mathbb{R})\), which is generated by \((z\mapsto-1/z]\) and \((z\mapsto z+ 2\cos{\pi\over q}:= z+\lambda]\), and is not modular (non-arithmetic) for \(q\neq 3,4,6\). The usual continued fractions are generalized into ``\(\lambda\)-continued fractions'', which are shown to allow as well to develop a coding, and then a symbolic dynamics, with Markov partitions, a cross section, first return map and time, and invariant measure. Some explicit expressions are computed.
