The authors propose a coordinate-free presentation of the theory of a large number of classes of special Finsler manifolds (e.g., locally Minkowski, Berwald, Landsberg, \(P\)-reducible, \(C\)-reducible, \(C^h\)-recurrent, \(S_3\)-like, \(P\)-symmetric, \(h\)-isotropic, of scalar curvature, of constant curvature, etc). The corresponding definitions are given, and various relationships between these classes are described. Properties of the torsion and curvature tensors are outlined. For comparison reasons, the authors include as well an appendix, containing the local version of the previously coordinate-free (globally) provided definitions.
