The authors study the scattering theory for the system consisting of a Schrödinger equation and a wave equation that interact by means of a Yukawa type coupling in three space dimensions. In this paper the authors extend their previous results, were they proved the existence of modified wave operators with no restriction on the size of the data and were they determined the asymptotic behaviour for large times of the solutions in the range of the wave operators. These results were obtained under a support condition on the asymptotic state required by the different propagation properties of the wave and the Schrödinger equations. This condition is eliminated in this paper using an improved asymptotic form for the solutions. Part I, cf. Commun. Math. Phys. 236, No. 3, 395--448 (2003; Zbl 1038.35048), Part III, cf. Dyn. Partial Differ. Equ. 2, No. 2, 101--125 (2005; Zbl 1107.35095).
