The authors study a model based on a unified hyperbolic formulation of fluid and solid dynamics. One important feature of this model is to consider that the continuum particles are finite volumes of a small but finite scale instead of treating them as scaleless mathematical points as in the classical continuum models. This is what actually unifies all the three states of matter because this problem is essentially a geometrical one. Besides the physical model, the authors study the mathematical model consisting of a system of partial differential equations and give some numerical results. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1398.65012].
