The authors consider moduli stacks over \(\overline{\mathbb Q}\) of algebraic curves of genus \(g \geq 2\) endowed with an action of a finite group \(G\) of automorphisms, which comes with a fixed embedding in the mapping class group \(\Gamma_g\), such that the associated analytic action of \(G\) is precisely the action induced by the specified embedding of \(G\) in \(\Gamma_g\). They prove that the étale homotopy type can be expressed as a certain pro-simplicial set figuring the normaliser of \(G\) in \(\Gamma_g\). The main ingredients in the proof are Artin-Mazur étale homotopy theory and Teichmüller theory.
