Given a locally compact space \(X\) and a homeomorphism on \(X\), a window is a compact set \(W\subset X\) such that all forward orbits intersect \(W\). A homeomorphism with a window is called bounded. This terminology is justified because the existence of a window is equivalent to the existence of a compact set attracting all orbits. The authors consider bounded homeomorphisms of the open annulus and extend to this class some known results for homeomorphisms of the closed annulus. These results concern the existence of fixed points and rotation numbers. The paper also contains a topological version of the Poincaré-Birkhoff theorem inspired by a result due to \textit{J. Franks} [Ann. Math. (2) 128, 139-151 (1988; Zbl 0676.58037)].
