The authors prove a basic topological theorem on the existence of \(\text{pin}^c\) structure on the product of a pair of Riemannian manifolds, and employ it to construct manifolds of manifolds which admit a Lipschitz structure, but no \(\text{pin}^c\) structure. An example of a 5-dimensional manifold with this property is given, and it is noted that there do not exist manifolds of lower dimension having this property. The presentation of the authors is remarkably detailed and the first two sections contain a valuable overview of the various pin and spin structures on Riemannian manifolds.
