Generalising the scattered property of subspaces (Q2043734): Difference between revisions

Let \(V\) be an \(r\)-dimensional vector space over a finite field of order \(q^n\). An \(F_q\)-subspace \(U\) of \(V\) is called \(h\)-scattered if \(U\) meets the \(h\)-dimensional subspacees of \(V\) in \(F_q\)-subspaces of dimension at most \(h\). In the paper, the authors prove the upper bound \(rn/(h+1)\) for the dimension of \(h\)-scattered subspaces where \(h>1\).
