This is a very long and interesting paper written by one of the main experts in the modern theory of special functions, analysed from the representation theory point of view. Using the technique of intertwiners in the nonsemisimple variant as the main tool, the paper analyses the irreducibility of the polynomial representation of the double affine Hecke algebra, for an arbitrary root system and generic \(q\). As counterparts of the classical Coxeter exponents, the author uses affine exponents and introduces the Macdonld nonsemisimple polynomials. He discusses only basic aspects and applications of the method of intertwiners, including related problems of the theory of reduced decomposition in affine Weyl groups and semisimple submodules of the polynomials representations.
