A chemotaxis run-and-tumble model consisting of a kinetic equation for cells motion and two reaction-diffusion equations for chemical signals is studied. The main topic is the existence (and nonexistence) of travelling wave solutions for both models with continuous and discrete velocities. An important property of monotonicity of densities of cells is crucial in the analysis. Connection with the Milne problem in radiative transfer theory is discussed. Numerical examples are used for illustration of theoretical results.
