The main theorem of the paper is the following: Let \(X\) be a non-singular complex projective variety with \(\mathrm{Pic}\,X=\mathbb{Z}H\). Assume one has a monad, \[ 0\to \mathcal{O}_X(-H)^{\oplus c}\overset{\alpha}{\to} \mathcal{O}_X^{\oplus 2+2c}\overset{\beta}{\to} \mathcal{O}_X(H)^{\oplus c} 0, \] for some \(c\geq 1\). Then the kernel \(K=\mathrm{ker}\, \beta\) is a stable bundle of rank \(c+2\) with \(c_1(K)=-c H\) and \(c_2(K)=\frac{1}{2}(c^2+c) H^2\) and \(E=\mathrm{ker}\, \beta/\mathrm{Im}\, \alpha\) is a stable rank 2 bundle with \(c_1(E)=0\) and \(c_2(E)=cH^2\). The author exhibits such monads for generic hypersurfaces of degree \(d\) in \(\mathbb{P}^4\).
