In this short note, the author defines continuous and discrete transformations of Fourier type on compact simple Lie groups. These are useful for problems on digital data interpolation as well as for the development of fast algorithms for decompositions of tensor product representations, computation of characters etc. Details and proofs are to be found elsewhere.
