Let \(Y\) be a real compact \(2n\)-dimensional manifold smoothly embedded into an \((n+1)\)-dimensional complex manifold \(X\). A point \(p\in Y\) is called a complex point if its tangent space \(T_pY\) is a complex subspace of \(T_pX\). In such a situation, the author establishes the following results (page 208): Theorem 1. Every smooth embedding \(i: Y\subset X\) can be deformed by a \(C^\infty\) small smooth isotopy to a manifold which only has complex points of elliptic hyperbolic type. Theorem 3. Let \(Y\) and \(X\) be as in Theorem 1. After a small smooth isotopy, \(Y\) admits a 2-strictly pseudoconvex tubular neighborhood basis \(N_i\), i.e., each \(N_i\) is defined by a \(C^2\) exhaustion function \(\Phi\), whose Levi form \(\frac{i}{2}\,\partial\overline\partial\phi\) has at least 1 strictly positive eigenvalue. Remarks: a) On page 216, the author states ``To prove Theorem 2'' which is misleading, since there is no ``Theorem 2'' in the paper; he means ``Theorem 3'' instead. b) For any compact complex submanifold \(Y\) of dimension \(n\), embedded in a complex manifold \(X\) of dimension \((n+1)\), it is well known that \(Y\) does admit a 2-strictly pseudoconvex neighborhood \(N_i\). c) Notice that the notion of \(q\)-strictly pseudoconvexity given here is the opposite to the standard notion of \(q\)-strictly pseudoconvexity in the classical literature, namely the one defined by Andreotti and Grauert.
