The authors consider the original Nitsche-X-finite element method (XFEM) method for the discretization of an elliptic interface problem, without any stabilization. They obtain an optimal additive subspace preconditioner by applying a standard multigrid preconditioner in the subspace spanned by the piecewise continuous FEM functions and a simple Jacobi diagonal scaling in the subspace spanned by the discontinuous FEM functions.
