For a non-degenerate curve X in \({\mathbb{P}}^ N\), we have two fundamental tools to investigate the behavior of the osculating m-planes: one is the Gauss map \(X\to {\mathbb{G}}({\mathbb{P}}^ N,m)\) of order \(m\); and the other is the conormal variety \(C^{(m)}X\) of order m with the m-dual \(X^{*(m)}\). We prove that the natural projection \(C^{(m)}X\to X^{*(m)}\) of the conormal variety to the dual has the same inseparable degree with the Gauss map \(X\to {\mathbb{G}}({\mathbb{P}}^ N,m)\).
