The boson-fermion correspondence is given, starting from the representation of the CAR algebra over \(L^ 2(S^ 1,\mathbb{C})\) associated with a KMS state with chemical potential, obtaining the CCR algebra of the implementers of the gauge groups \(\text{Map}(S^ 1,U(1))\) for which the expectation functional is explicitly computed (Theorem 2.3.3), and then constructing the fermion algebra from \(\text{Map}(S^ 1,U(1))\) by a limiting procedure for which the expectation functional is again the KMS state (Theorem 2.4.7). A different computation of the expectation functional of the CCR algebra gives rise to a determinant identity reminiscent of Szegő's theorem.
