The authors study some estimates of the integral operators with homogeneous kernel with respect to modular functionals in the Orlicz classes or Musielak-Orlicz classes and in the space of the functions with \(\varphi\)-bounded variation in the sense of Musielak-Orlicz. Let \(\varphi\) be a convex function non-decreasing on \(R_ 0^ +\) with \(\varphi(0)=0\) and \(\varphi(u)>0\) for \(u>0\), denote \({\mathcal V}_ \varphi\) the space of Lebesgue measurable functions \(x\) on \(R^ +\) with finite \(\varphi\)-variation \(V_ \varphi[x,R^ +]=\sup_ D \sum\varphi(| x(t_ i)-x(t_{i-1})|)\). Let \(K: R^ +\times R^ +\to R_ 0^ +\) be such that \(({\mathcal K}x)(t)=\int_ 0^ \infty K(t,s)x(s)ds<\infty\) for every \(x\in{\mathcal V}_ \varphi\). Denote \(A_ i(t)=\int_ 0^ \infty K(t,z)z^{-(i+\gamma)}dz\) (\(i=1,2\)), \(\rho(x)=\int_ 0^ \infty\varphi(| x(t)|)dt\) for \(x\in X\) and let \(L_ 0^ \varphi=\{x\in X\): \(\rho(x)<\infty\}\) be the Orlicz class generated by \(\rho\). If \(K(t,s)\) is homogeneous of degree \(\gamma\in R\), then the following implications hold: (i) If \(0<A_ 1(1)<\infty\) and \(A(\cdot)^{\gamma+1}x(\cdot)\in{\mathcal V}_ \varphi\), then \(V_ \varphi[{\mathcal K}x,R^ +]\leq V_ \varphi[A(\cdot)^{\gamma+1}x,R^ +]\). In particular, \(V_ \varphi[{\mathcal K}x,R^ +]\leq V_ \varphi[A(1)x]\). (ii) If \(0< A_ i(1)<\infty\) for \(i=1,2\) and \(A_ 1(\cdot)^{1+\gamma}x\in L_ 0^ \varphi\), then \(\phi({\mathcal K}x)\leq (A_ 2(1)/A_ 1(1))\rho(A_ 1(\cdot)^{1+\gamma}x)\). In particular, \({\mathcal K}x\in L_ 0^ \varphi\). (iii) If \(0<A_ 2(1)<\infty\), \(\int_ 0^ \infty K(t,s)ds=M\) for all \(t>0\) and \(Mx\in L_ 0^{\varphi,\gamma+1}\) where \(L_ 0^{\varphi,\alpha}=\{x\in X\): \(\rho_ \alpha(x)<\infty\}\), \(\rho_ \alpha(x)=\int_ 0^ \infty \varphi(| x(t)|)t^ \alpha dt\), then \({\mathcal K}x\in L_ 0^ \varphi\) and \(\rho({\mathcal K}x)\leq A_ 2(1)M^{-1}\rho_{\gamma+1}(Mx)\). An extension to the case of generalized Orlicz classes is then given.
