Among the linear problems in various areas of mathematics, there are distinguished those, the solution of which is unique, but unstable. Although the problem of finding a solution is completely determined, there is no ``good'' formula for a solution. To begin with, Carleman found an explicit formula for the solution of one of the simplest problems of such a type --- the analytic continuation problem, therefore, we will call the formulas giving the solution of unstable problems, Carleman formulas. One of the common ways of regularizing unstable problems, proposed by A. N. Tikhonov, is based on considerations of compactness. Putting off this idea, we distinguish the class of conditionally-stable linear problems and show that for the solutions of such problems, there is a suitable Carleman formula. Applications are indicated to boundary-value and interior problems for differential equations.
