Let \(p\) be a prime \((p > 2)\) and \(F\) an algebraically closed field of characteristic other than \(p\). For every natural number \(k\) there exists a unique (up to conjugacy) irreducible subgroup \(A = A_ k \subset \text{GL}(p^ k, F)\), which contains the group \(S\) of scalar matrices and is such that the quotient group \(A/S\) is elementary Abelian. This group \(A\) is called an extraspecial linear group. Its normalizer \(N = N_ k\) in \(\text{GL}(p^ k, F)\) plays an essential role in the theory of linear groups. In this paper we shall describe the spectra of \(p\)- elements of \(N\).
