The model assumptions are those of an infinite dioecious population with nonoverlapping discrete generations and random mating, with the fitnesses assumed to be constant and viability of heterozygotic genotypes required. It is proved that the allelic frequencies converge to equilibria and it is determined how the number of equilibria and phase portraits of allelic frequency ratios from a generation to the next generation depend on the fitnesses. The obtained results complement known results by omitting certain restrictions for the validity of earlier theorems on one hand and using other, more elementary methods on the other hand. The paper gives a good account of the recent results in this field.
