[For part II cf. Commun. Algebra 18, No. 9, 2885-2941 (1990; Zbl 0728.20036).] The paper deals with some functorial generalizations of Schur and Weyl modules. The author shows the way one can extend the classical branching rule (and the one due to Clebsch and Gordan, too) for the Schur modules of the general linear groups in Theorems 1.4 and 1.5. Analogously, using universal filtrations for Weyl functors the author obtains similar results in this case.
