    Fast alle amerikanischen Lehrbuchautoren, welche vor 1911 über Irrationalzahlen schrieben, hatten enge Beziehungen zu deutschen Universitäten gehabt. Die Reihe beginnt mit H. B. Fine 1891. In Großbritannien setzte die Entwicklung erst ab 1906 ein. Gründliche Übersicht zur im Titel genannten Lehrbuchliteratur im Universitätsbereich.
