This paper studies the scattering of a scalar wave from a random rough cylindrical surface. The random surface of the cylinder is assumed to be homogeneous, so its probability distribution is invariant with respect to a set of two motion-groups on the cylindrical surface; namely translations along the axial direction and circular rotations about the axis. As these groups are additive and mutually commutative, it is possible to formulate the theory in a combined form of the planar and circular cases. The Wiener-Ito representation of the stochastic functionals on the cylindrical surface are thus capable of being written in convenient forms for calculation. Some approximate solutions are found for slightly rough surfaces with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions.
