For a class \(\mathcal C\) of topological spaces, \(Y\) is a \(\varphi\)-extension of \(\mathcal C\) if \(Y\) is the closed continuous image of a Tychonoff product of spaces in \(\mathcal C\). Among other results in this paper we mention the following: Theorem. A first countable \(\varphi\)-extension of Lašnev spaces is metrizable. Similarly, a first countable \(\varphi\)-extension of paracompact \(\sigma\)-spaces (stratifiable) is also a paracompact \(\sigma\)-space (stratifiable).
