Clifford algebras and polar planes (Q1196425): Difference between revisions

With every representation of the Clifford algebra \(C(m-1)\) on \({\mathbf R}^ l\) the author associates a topological polar plane which is not Moufang, if \(m=1,2,4\). The construction is motivated by the theory of isoparametric submanifolds, which on the one hand is closely related to Clifford representations, while on the other hand the author's classification [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 133, No. 2, 429-446 (1991; Zbl 0727.57028)] of them relies on associating a Tits building with each irreducible isoparametric submanifold of rank \(>3\).
