    Für die numerische Berechnung des zeitlichen Verhaltens von mechanischen Systemen werden seit Jahren auf dem Hamilton'schen Prinzip beruhende Verfahren benutzt. Die jeweiligen Unterschiede ergeben sich durch die Art der Behandlung der Randbedingungen und durch die Wahl der Ansatzfunktionen. Ausgehend von einer allgemeinen Form des Prinzips diskutieren Verfasser die Stabilität der Iterationen, wenn einerseits für die Verschiebung und für die Deformation gleiche Ansatzfunktionen und wenn andererseits für die Verschiebung und für die Impulse unterschiedliche Ansatzfunktionen benutzt werden. Anhand einfacher numerischer Beispiele für einen Schwinger von einem Freiheitsgrad werden die Vorteile des gemischten Lösungsansatzes gegenüber dem gleichartigen Ansatz aufgezeigt.
