The authors extend some 1969 results of S. Belohorec, concerning oscillation properties of solutions of some nonlinear differential equations. I. V. Kamenev had also obtained some related results. Belohorec's theorem had already been generalized in the early 80's by T. Kura and also by M. K. Kwong and J. S. W. Wong, and the authors further extend their considerations to comprise the damped differential equations \(y''+b(t)y'+a(t)f(y)=0\), where \(a,b\in C[t_ 0,\infty)\), \(f,f'\in C(- \infty,+\infty)\), \(yf(y)>0\), \(y\neq 0\), \(f'(y)>0\), \(y\neq 0\), and the two integrals of \(f(y)^{-1}\) in \((0,1]\) and \([-1,0)\) exist. Specifically, the authors find some criteria in order to tell when the above equation is oscillatory.
