The authors define a reflector on a vector space \(V\) to be an additive involutory function \(\sigma\) of \(V\) onto itself. The range of \({1\over 2}[I+\sigma]\) is called the speculum of \(\sigma\). The paper gives some basic results on reflectors and results for reflectors which preserve or invert the specula of other reflectors.
