    Die Verfasser verwenden die Integralgleichung von Symm zur konformen Abbildung eines Gebiets \(G\) auf den Einheitskreis \(\mathbb{D}\), wobei \(\partial G\) eine stückweise analytische Jordankurve \(C\) sein soll. Dabei muß eine Dichtefunktion \(\sigma\) ermittelt werden, die an den Ecken von \(C\) Singularitäten aufweist. In einer früheren Arbeit [\textit{D. M. Hough}, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 12/13, 359-369 (1985; Zbl 0566.30007)] hatte Hough diese Dichte in der Form \(\sigma=w_ k\psi_ k\) angesetzt, wobei \(w_ k\) die genaue Art der Singularität von \(\sigma\) an der Ecke \(P_ k\) absorbierte, so daß \(\psi_ k\) in Lip \(\gamma\) wurde für ein \(\gamma>{1\over 2}\). Dagegen wird jetzt ein einheitlicher Ansatz \(\sigma=w\psi_ k\) für alle Ecken verwendet, mit \(w=(1-t^ 2)^{-1/2}\). Das führt zu einer Darstellung von \(\sigma\) mittels Chebyshev-Polynomen, während früher die Jacobi-Polynome verschiedener Ordnung erforderlich waren. Zwar verlieren die verwendeten Quadraturformeln an Genauigkeit, doch ist die Implementierung der Methode jetzt einfacher und die effektive Rechnung schneller.
