The author describes the connection between the optimal ADI iteration parameters and the rational Zolotarev problem. He points out the connection between the rational Zolotarev problem and the conformal mapping of doubly connected regions. It is shown that the generalized Fejér points generate rational functions which are asymptotically minimal for the rational Zolotarev problem. Implementation details and numerical examples are given.
