Results concerning oscillatory and nonoscillatory behavior of the equation \((p(t)h(x)x'(t))'+q(t)f(x(g(t)))=0\) are obtained. Examples show that some assumptions cannot be removed and also point out differences between the behavior of functional differential equations with respect to the case \(g(t)=t\). Comparisons with previous results are presented throughout the paper.
