Explicit criteria of absolute stability for the trivial solution of the real second canonical form of a nonlinear control system in the notion of \textit{A. M. Letov} [Stability in nonlinear control systems (1961; Zbl 0101.071)] are derived. It is demonstrated that the obtained sufficient conditions extend and include conditions which were previously published by other authors. This is also shown by considering the example of the equations of the longitudinal motion of an aircraft.
