The purpose of this paper is to obtain a degree equation which holds for any \(p\)-block of an arbitrary finite group. We also give a sufficient condition for a set of irreducible ordinary characters to be a \(p\)-block. Furthermore, we describe a conjecture which is equivalent to K. Harada's conjecture and show that the conjecture holds for specific groups as an application.
