This paper is concerned with a technique, based on a convolution process, for generating an approximation to a given continuous function. The main difficulty of the method is in the manifacturing the convolution kernel with the desired properties of approximation. The author describes and discusses the construction of convolution kernels for approximation by ridge and radial functions.
