Nonlinear, continuous-time, finite-dimensional control systems are considered. Using the methods of Lie algebra a necessary condition for total controllability in an arbitrary time is formulated and proved. Moreover, some additional remarks and comments on the controllability of nonlinear dynamical systems are also given. Finally, simple an illustrative example is presented. Similar controllability problems have been recently considered in the monograph [Nonlinear controllability and optimal control (1990; Zbl 0699.00040)].
