Numerical grid generation has evolved as an essential tool for obtaining numerical solutions of the partial differential equations of fluid dynamics. The development of control functions associated with the elliptic grid generation system presented in this paper adapts the best features of algebraic system and hyperbolic system. Two algorithms are given: the cell area approach and the grid spacing approach. The algorithms are readily applicable to grid adaption. The authors present three examples for the application of the control functions. The graphical output of the generated grids for the examples is convincing.
